Bill Hampton had been working for the United Press International for two months when the assassination occurred. It was just another ordinary day when he received the phone call from the UPI's senior White House reporter Merriman Smith. He will never forget the words Smith yelled out for the rest of his life. "Bulletin precede!" he yelled. "Three shots were fired at the motorcade!" (Hampton 13).

On Friday, Nov 22nd, 1963, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, America's 35th president, was assassinated. Three shots were fired. One hit Texas governor John Connally, the other two hit Kennedy. The second shot was fatal, damaging his brain and his skull (Waggoner 8). This was not the first time that a United States President had been assassinated, but still rocked the world nonetheless. Why did it happen? Who did it? Those two questions are still being asked today. Although the Lone Assassin theory is as the official truth behind what really happened, there are still many other theories that have credibility to them and have not yet been disproved.

Kennedy's term was supposed to come to an end in 1964. In an effort to raise his popularity and hopefully increase his chances at a re-election, Kennedy and his advisors decided it would be a good idea to take a "goodwill trip" throughout the South. In order to get closer to the public, he had his car's bullet-proof roof taken off. This gave his assassin a clear, unobstructed view of their target (Waggoner 11).

Some witnesses to the event thought they saw the tip of a rifle sticking out of a sixth floor window of the Texas School Book Depository (President's Commission 17). Police rushed up to that room immediately after the assassination and found three empty rifle shells and a 6.5mm Italian-made rifle. The rifle was later on traced to TSBD employee Lee Harvey Oswald (Waggoner 18).

Under two hours after Kennedy's death, his Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in as the America's new president, and then created the President's Commission on the Assassination of President Kennedy a week later. Because Earl Warren was appointed as the director of the Commission, it was given the nickname "The Warren Commission (Waggoner 24)."

About ten months after Kennedy's death, the Warren Commission released the 800 page long Report of the President's Commission on the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, a.k.a. the Warren Report. After interviewing 489 people that may have been involved with the assassination, Warren and his fellow Warren Commission members came to the conclusion that Lee Harvey Oswald had killed President Kennedy, and acted alone (President's Commission 21). According to them, he was a "loner" and his "deep-rooted resentment of all authority which was expressed in a hostility toward every society in which he lived" drove him to committing the crime (President's Commission 23).

Oswald was born in New Orleans in 1939 (Waggoner 27). At the age of 15, he was turned onto the philosophy of Marxism (Waggoner 28). Marxism promoted a world without social classes. A world with no rich and no poor, where no one would own property, and everyone would be equal. This appealed to Oswald because he had lived in poverty his whole life, and no matter how hard his mother worked, they just couldn't seem to get out of it (Waggoner 29).

In 1962, he created an "unapproved chapter of the Fair Play for Cuba Committee (FPCC) (Waggoner 32)," a pro-Castro organization. Some theorize that Kennedy's actions against Castro are what provoked Oswald to murder him.

America's relations with Cuba was very important because Cuba lies only 90 miles off the coast Florida's. Cuban leader Fidel Castro quickly established ties with the Soviet Union, which did not sit too well will Kennedy and the rest of America. In 1961, President Kennedy sent a group of CIA trained Cuban guerrillas to attempt to start a revolution against Castro. This was called the Bay of Pigs invasion. Unfortunately, it was a disaster and failed (Waggoner 13).

This wasn't the end of Kennedy's interactions with Cuba. A year later, Soviet nuclear weapons were found in Cuba. Kennedy demanded that all weapons be removed from the island and established air and naval blockades to keep more weapons from entering the island. A few days later, Soviet premier Nikita Khruschev replied saying that he would comply to Kennedy's demand only if Kennedy agreed to lift the blockades and never invade Cuba again. This was known as the Cuban Missile Crisis. Kennedy agreed to this (Waggoner 14).

After Oswald's arrest, the evidence against him seemed to be pouring in. Most important was the fact that the rifle found on the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository was traced to him.

However, this wasn't the only reason the Warren Commission believed that Oswald was indeed the killer. His actions immediately after the assassination only made him look more suspicious. He quickly left the TSBD after the assassination and was the only male employee that did not show up for work that afternoon. When he was arrested at 2:00pm that day, he had in his possession a loaded revolver and was already accused of killing Police officer Dave Tippitt between the time of his assassination and his arrest. This made him look like a terrified man attempting to run from the law (Waggoner 35).

One would think that an 800 page government document on the assassination would be the ultimate source for any research and would have answers to every question imaginable. However, that is not the case. Several of the statements in the Warren Report have been consider flawed by many people. For example, the Report claims that "a rifleman of Lee Harvey's Oswald's capabilities could have fired the shots from the rifle used in the assassination within the elapsed time (President's Commission 19)." However, nearly 50 men who served time in the marines with Oswald would disagree with that point. Nelson Delgado called his shooting ability "a joke", while Sherman Cooley said that "If I had to pick one man in the whole United States to shoot me, I'd pick Oswald...there's no way he could have ever learned to shoot well enough to do what they accused him of (qtd. in Waggoner 39)." What they accused Oswald of was firing off three shots with extreme precision in a matter of seconds.

Another claim made by the Warren Report that has been disputed is there conclusion that "Oswald was (not) involved with any person or group in a conspiracy to assassinate the President (President's Commission 21)." In disagreement with the Warren Report was the "U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee on Assassinations." According to them, "president John F. Kennedy was probably assassinated as a result of conspiracy (Findings and Recommendations 37)." They also said that "Since the Warren Commission's...investigation into the possibility of a conspiracy was seriously flawed, their failure to develop evidence of a conspiracy could not be given independent weight (Findings and Recommendations 97)".

The assassination of John F. Kennedy was indeed part of a conspiracy, was anyone else involved in it? If anyone other than Oswald had a part in the conspiracy, it may have been Dallas nightclub owner Jack Ruby.

Two days after the assassination, Oswald was shot and killed. He was being transported from a press conference back to his jail cell when Jack Ruby suddenly "darted out" of the crowd and shot Oswald in the abdomen with a Colt .38 revolver. Oswald fell to the ground and quickly lost consciousness. He was pronounced dead 7 minutes later (President's Commission 17).

Although Ruby denied any connections to a conspiracy and claimed that he "killed Oswald in a temporary fit of depression and rage ((President's Commission 17)," he gave a much more interesting response while testifying before the Warren Commission in June of 1964. He frequently interrupted his testimony telling those who were listening that by simply speaking to them, he was putting his own life and his family's life in danger. Later on in his testimony he went on to say "Gentlemen, my life is in danger here. I want to tell the truth, and I can't tell it here. I can't tell it here. Gentlemen, unless you get me to Washington, you can't get a fair shake out of me (qtd. in Waggoner, 62)."

It has been speculated that Ruby may have been paid by someone to 'silence' Oswald, and he was afraid that he was next. But who could have done that, and who could have had the resources to do so? There are several possible answers to those two questions. One of them is the Mafia.

As author Sylvia Meagher said, "Muted in the (Warren) Report, but revealed in the Exhibits (the Warren Commission later on produced what a collection of testimonies called "Hearings and Exhibits"), are Ruby's ties with the underworld, gamblers and hoods, (and) narcotics traffic (qtd. in Waggoner 63)."

As a kid living in Chicago he ran errands for Al Capone, then went on to work for Paul Dorfman during the late 1930's. Ruby then moved to Dallas in the 1940's to open a Nightclub. At the same time the Chicago mafia decided to expand to Dallas (Waggoner 63).. It was later discovered that they planned on using his nightclub as a base for running some of their operations (Findings and Recommendations 149).

It should also be noted that before the assassination, he was in serious debt. He was $44,000 behind in income tax payments, and was also behind on payments for the building he rented for his nightclub. However, the day before the assassination Ruby suddenly appeared at a bank with pockets full of money and $3,000 was found on him and his car the day of his arrest.(Waggoner 65)?

If the Mafia ordered Jack Ruby to kill and Oswald to keep him quiet, then one would assume that Oswald was also hired by the Mafia to kill Kennedy. But why would the Mafia Kennedy dead? What did he ever do to them?

Well, for one thing, he and his brother, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, made stopping organized crime a major goal. The "Kennedy administration brought about the strongest effort against organized crime that had ever been coordinated by the Federal Government (Findings and Recommendations 161)." During the three years John F Kennedy was in office with his brother, Robert made entire sections of the Justice Department four times bigger and much more effective in gathering information and cracking down on time (Waggoner 16). From 1961 (the year of JFK's election) to 1963, the Justice Departments list of "known, active criminals" went from 40 to 2300, the number of racketeering charges increased 400%, and the numbers of "convictions obtained for offenses connected to organized crime" went from 63 to 288 (Waggoner 35).

The mafia certainly had the motivation to kill, and they did not hide it. This particular comment, spoken by Philadelphia thug Willie Weisberg and caught by FBI surveillance, is a typical comment heard when the subject of the Kennedy's comes up during a Mafia discussion:
"See what Kennedy done. With Kennedy, a guy should take a knife, like all them other guys, and stab and kill the [obscenity], where he is now. Somebody should kill the [obscenity], I mean it. This is true. Honest to God. It's about time to go. But I tell you something. I hope I git a week's notice, I'll kill. Right in the [obscenity] in the White House. Somebody's got to rid of this [obscenity] (Findings and Recommendations 165)."

Although the Kennedy's were on a crusade to erase every bit of organized crime from the United States, three men in particular were their prime targets.

The first was Jimmy Hoffa. Hoffa was the leader of the American International Brotherhood of Teamsters, a powerful labor union for truckers and warehouse workers. They are important to America's economy, and being the leader of a group of truckers and warehouse workers gave Hoffa an enormous amount of power (Waggoner 53).

He openly admitted to being friends with Mafia bosses Carlos Marcello and Santos Trafficante (Waggoner 53). As the Kennedy's uncovered more information about his connections with organized crime, they tried to prosecute and even went out of their way to embarrass him. This supposedly led to him having a "deep, personal hatred" towards the two (Waggoner 54).

The second of the Kennedy's three major targets was Carlos Marcello, an extremely powerful mafia boss who basically controlled activities in New Orleans, but was powerful enough to have his influence spread elsewhere. He was not a legal resident of the United States and no one had dared anger him by trying to have him deported. However, Robert Kennedy did not waste any time (Waggoner 55). RFK ordered him to be flown to Guatemala in 1961, but he came right back in 1963 (Waggoner 56). The deportation of Marcello only added insult to injury. Marcello had "an intense dislike for Robert Kennedy because of these actions, claiming that he had been illegally 'kidnaped' by Government agents during the deportation (Findings and Recommendations 169)."

Last but not least was Santos Trafficante, who was basically in the same position as Marcello. Trafficante was the "head of Miami's lucrative organized crime market." He also had a personal grudge against the Kennedy's because of the way they treated his friends, Marcello and Hoffa. According to Cuban exile Jose Aleman, Trafficante had said to him "Have you seen how his (President Kennedy's) brother is hitting Hoffa? . . . Mark my words, this man Kennedy is in trouble, and he will get what is coming to him (Waggoner 60)."

The Federal Government learned in September of 1962 that Jimmy Hoffa and Teamster lieutenant Edward Partin had discussed the possibility of killing Robert Kennedy. Hoffa even had even come up with a rough plan of how the event would plan out. RFK would be shot while riding in a convertible in the South by a lone gunman "equipped with a rifle with a telescopic sight (Findings and Recommendations 176)." Since both JFK and RFK were already unpopular in the South, that would only make it easier for Hoffa to slip through the cracks while someone else got the blame.

Carlos Marcello also had dreams of ending the "Kennedy problem." However, his target was John Kennedy, not Robert. Although RFK was the most troublesome of the two brothers, Marcello came to the conclusion that killing JFK would be the most beneficial plan. He spoke of how "the dog will keep biting you if you only cut off it's tail," but by removing the dog's head, "the entire dog would die (Waggoner 58)." In other words, killing the president's brother would only bring a furious John Kennedy down on them. But by killing the president, Robert Kennedy would be much less powerful than before. After JFK's assassination, Marcello was heard saying "Bobby Kennedy's just another lawyer now (qtd. Waggoner 58)."

If the Mafia did order the assassination of the President, why would they choose Oswald as their man? It probably had to do with the Mafia's connections to Oswald's family. Charles Murret surved as a "surrogate father" throughout much of Oswald's childhood, and was during a part of his life associated with several men affilated with Marcello and his crime organzition. Oswald's mother, Marguerite Oswald, was "acquainted with several men associated with lieutenants in the Marcello organization." It was also discovered that the man who had arranged bail for Oswald following his arrest in August 1963 for a minor street disturbance was had ties with the Marcello organization (Findigns and Recommendations, 170).

Despite what various mafia members have said and what has been uncovered about their hatred of the Kennedy brothers, there is still no hard evidence that shows they had a part in the killing of John Kennedy. "That organized crime had the motive, opportunity and means to kill the President cannot be questioned. Whether it did so is another matter (Findings and Recommendations 161)."

Another group that some speculate may have played a part in a conspiracy is the Secret Service. The Secret Service is the government agency charged with protecting the president, and President Kennedy's assassination "was the first and only such crime since the Secret Service was assigned responsibility for full-time protection of the President in 1901, as a result of the assassination of William McKinley (Findings and Recommendations 227)."

The Secret Service is supposed to protect the President, but on November 22nd, 1963, they may have done the opposite. Although according to the Secret Service's records all agents in Dallas were with President JFK when the assassination occurred, many witnesses believe otherwise.

After the shots were fired Dallas policeman Joe Marshall Smith went to a place called the Grassy Knoll that was located to the front/right of JFK's car expecting to see the assassin fleeing. He smelled gunpowder, but saw nothing but an empty parking lot and a lone man who claimed to be a Secret Service Agent. The man was never identified (Waggoner 91).

Another man, Lee Bowers, also believed the assassin was located in the Grassy Knoll. He worked for the Union Terminal Co. and was stationed in a 14 foot tower directly behind the Grassy Knoll. He saw three cars cruising around the parking lot about 35 minutes before the assassination. Two of them left after a few minutes. One of the drivers "was holding something up to his mouth with one hand and he was driving with the other (qtd. in Penn)." The third car had "out-of-state license plates," "mud up to the windows," and "probed all around the parking area." Bowers last saw the car about eight minutes before the assassination, pausing "just above the assassination site (qtd. in Penn)."

He also observed two men standing on top of the Knoll at the edge of the parking lot, facing the direction that the President's car was to come through. When the shots were fired, Bowers' attention was drawn to the area where he had seen both men. His attention was caught by "some commotion at that spot...something out of the ordinary." Bowers later testified that the what had caught his eye may have been a "flash of light (qtd. in Penn)."

Jean Hill, another witness to the assassination, saw a man running from the Grassy Knoll after hearing the shots. Believing he was the assassin, she took off after him but was turned back by the police. In March of 1964, while being questioned about what she had seen, she noticed that some of the men in the room with her appeared to be Secret Service agents (Hearings and Exhibits 10).

Research David Lifton thinks that the Secret Service were involved in the assassination and altered the appearance of Kennedy's wounds after the assassination. He came to this conclusion by comparing what the doctors at Dallas had seen only 8 minutes after JFK's assassination with what Navy doctors in Maryland reported seeing approximately six and a half hours later. The Dallas doctors said the shot appeared to come from in front of and to the right of Kennedy; the direction of the Grassy Knoll. They wanted to perform an autopsy on him, but were told by Secret Service agents that only government officials could determine the President's official cause of death. His body was flown to the U.S. Navel Medical Hospital in Betheda, Maryland, while under the supervision the Secret Service. The results of the official autopsy showed that the shots had come from behind JFK (Waggoner 92). Could the Secret Service have been trying to cover something up?

The Secret Service was not the only government organization thought to have been involved with the assassination. Many belived both the CIA and FBI could have had a part in it. Both agencies have several thousand pages of information on the assassination that have yet to be declassified. They wasted no time in saying that Oswald was the lone assassin, yet they also say that declassifying the papers would endanger national security. Some researchers wonder what sensitive information could possible be revealed if Oswald carried out the killing himself and there was no one else involved (Waggoner 33).

To add to the mystery, both agencies said they knew nothing about Oswald before the assassination. Then, just after Oswald's own death, FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover was overheard saying to the new President Lyndon B. Johnson that "The thing I am most concerned about . . . is having something issued so we can convince the public that Oswald is the real assassin (qtd. in Waggoner 88)." If the FBI knew nothing about Oswald prior to JFK's death, then how could Hoover have possibly uncovered enough information in the two days that elapsed between Kennedy and Oswald's death to come to the conclusion that Oswald did it?

The assassination of John F. Kennedy has made many Americans paranoid, especially those who have dedicated their time to research the events surrounding JFK's death in an effort to find out the truth. There have been too many strange occurrences for them all to be coincidences, and there are too many pieces of evidence linking organized groups such as the Mafia and different branches of the United States government for anyone to know what really happened. The strange behavior shown by the US government has been the main thing that has disturbed United States citizens. Many do not trust the government at all, and the mystery surrounding Kennedy's death only adds to the distrust.

What really happened on November 22nd, 1963? Was the President's death the result of an intricately woven conspiracy conducted by the mafia or the Secret Service? Did Lee Harvey Oswald act alone and out of hate because he was a "loner" with a "deep-rooted resentment of all authority"? Was Jack Ruby contacted by someone and told to 'silence' Lee Harvey Oswald because they were afraid Oswald would leak out some kind of important, incriminating information? Many other theories than the ones that have been presented exist. However, the different theories that have been discussed- the Lone Assassin theory, the Mafia theory, and the various theories involving the US government- are the most credible. Despite all of the information that has been uncovered since the day Kennedy was killed, there is only one thing that really matters. The Lone Assassin theory is still thought of as the official explanation of Present John Fitzgerald Kennedy's untimely end, even though there is evidence that something much more complicated was going on behind the scenes.

Was JFK About to Release Info About the Governments Connections with Aliens?

While searching the internet looking for information to use in my JFK conspiracy, I stumbled across several sites containing what is supposedly a speech that John Kennedy was supposed to make in Dallas revealing that the US government had been in contact with intelligent beings from other civilizations. I didn't include this in my conspiracy because I was looking for just the big, highly accepted theories, and this one is considered a bit far out there. However, I figured someone might enjoy reading this, so here it is. I copied and pasted the 'speech' from http://www.ratical.org/ratville/JFK/JohnJudge/whyJFKwasShot.html, but it can be found on several different sites. If you want more info, just copy and paste a few lines of text from the speech and enter it into a search engine. That should bring up some more sites with the speech, and, most likely, more info on it.

"My fellow Americans, people of the world, today we set forth on a journey into a new era. One age, the childhood of mankind, is ending and another age is about to begin.

The journey of which I speak is full of unknowable challenges, but I believe that all our yesterdays, all the struggles of the past, have uniquely prepared our generation to prevail.

Citizens of this Earth, we are not alone. God, in His infinite wisdom, has seen fit to populate His universe with other beings -- intelligent creatures such as ourselves. How can I state this with such authority? In the year 1947 our military forces recovered from the dry New Mexico desert the remains of an aircraft of unknown origin. Science soon determined that this vehicle came from the far reaches of outer space. Since that time our government has made contact with the creators of that spacecraft.

Though this news may sound fantastic -- and indeed, terrifying -- I ask that you not greet it with undue fear or pessimism. I assure you, as your President, that these beings mean us no harm.

Rather, they promise to help our nation overcome the common enemies of all mankind -- tyranny, poverty, disease, war. We have determined that they are not foes, but friends. Together with them we can create a better world. I cannot tell you that there will be no stumbling or missteps on the road ahead.

But I believe that we have found the true destiny of the people of this great land: To lead the world into a glorious future. In the coming days, weeks and months, you will learn more about these visitors, why they are here and why our leaders have kept their presence a secret from you for so long.

I ask you to look to the future not with timidity but with courage. Because we can achieve in our time the ancient vision of peace on Earth and prosperity for all humankind.

God bless you"
